Freedom or License
Freedom without responsibility quickly degenerates to license.
We are beginning to see this more and more in the believer’s life.
Even though, as believers, we are free in Christ, we are never to use that freedom to satisfy our sinful nature. We do not have license to sin, but freedom to serve one another in love.
A definition of license is –to engage in activity otherwise unlawful.
In Galatians 5, Paul warns us of misusing our liberty (freedom)
in areas that cause us to miss the Kingdom of God.
Paul encourages us to be directed by the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. There is NO LAW against these things!
I encourage you to follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of your life. If you govern yourself, no one will need to govern you. You will walk in Freedom. |
