The Hope of the World
I first heard this phrase in Chicago. Bill
Hybel proclaimed, “THE CHURCH IS THE HOPE OF THE WORLD.” Now that
would be a huge name to “live up to”, but on that day the truth of that
pierced my heart and remains and grows.
Today I was reminded of how much I love the Church.
If Jesus gave himself for her, why wouldn’t I, and in my own way I have
given my life, without one single regret. It is in
the corporate meeting that we grow in truth, strength, help, love, mercy,
HOPE and the list goes on. The local Church supplies our whole body
with what we need to make it through the day, week, year, life and God
has designed it so that all this happens by simply meeting together.
The local Church is our safety net. This may sound strange, coming
from a pastor’s wife, but even when I have been uncomfortable in Church,
I received life sustaining help and HOPE by simply being faithful to
attend. In my darkest times I run to the Church and find peace and
refuge. There is just “NO PLACE LIKE CHURCH”.
My prayer for you today…. Commit to a local
Church….Serve there….Love there….Be faithful there….Grow there….Raise
your children there…And from there, learn to become THE HOPE OF YOUR
WORLD.
