Giving

Giving is a very personal issue with each of us. However, there is nothing more clearly taught in the scriptures than giving. We are to give 10% of all God blessed us with to his kingdom. As the government is blessed prior to taxes, i.e. “gross,” we are to bless the Lord with the gross.

Giving in the scriptures is actually around 23%: 10% to God (Mal 3:10); 10% to you (Deu 14:24-26); and a third-year tithe for the poor/alms, which works out to 3.333 % a year (Deu 14:28). It's a total of around 23%

Jesus said we ought to give the tithe among many other things.
Matthew 23:23   Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.

The apostle Paul said to give with a cheerfully.
2 Corinthians 9:7  Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

Giving is a very personal issue. As with everything else, we grow into giving. It requires faith, trust in God, and commitment.
