This may be a little complex, but help me out. I have spent a lot of time this week reading scriptures about and writing about the heart. The heart is a major theme in the Book of Proverbs, which we are studying at Life Gate.
Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out [...]
We (Life Gate) will end this year of 2009 with a series called INFLUENCE. Eric Hoffer said, “It would be difficult to exaggerate the degree to which we are influenced by those we influence.” In life, we are both influenced and an influence, even by those we think we are influencing. In other words, influence [...]
My questions is simple; “church is a success when ……..???”
Webster says…
1. obsolete : OUTCOME, RESULT
2. degree or measure of succeeding b : favorable or desired outcome; also : the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence
3. one that succeeds
But in real terms I want to be specific in our definition of a “successful” church [...]
We all have something for which we can brag. I can brag about my God, my church, my wife, my children, my grandchildren, my friends, and on and on, but if I could only brag a minute about one thing, what would that one thing be? I gave this some thought. I am such a [...]
My yard is very steep and close to an acre large. It used to take me about two hours to mow with my push mower. A few years ago, I finally found a riding mower that would handle the steep slope without tipping over, which cut my yard time from 2 hours to about 25 [...]
Let’s talk about something we look forward to all year. Let’s talk about vacation. I would love to know what you plan, or do, for your vacations. Judy and I have done many things over our 42 years of marriage (which will be 42 years this Friday, June 26), but the thing we settled into [...]
Over the past several weeks we’ve been talking about FAITH at Life Gate. I hope we learned a lot about FAITH and were stirred up to walk more by FAITH. I would love for you to tell me your thoughts about faith. Even if you’ve never attended, or haven’t been to Life Gate Church in [...]
I want to get a blog going about Easter. Easter will be here in a few weeks. Let’s share some wonderful memories about Easters we experienced. They capture our attendance. They capture our mind. They are real, but divine. They carry an “awe.” When did that last happen to you?

We experienced a meeting with David Ring last Sunday night. I continue meditating upon that meeting even in the midst of two of our grandchildren spending the week with us. Obviously, to me, David was a divine connection bringing me closer to God. After speaking to several people and receiving e-mails, I am not the [...]

Sunday, we begin a new series simply called PEOPLE. If you counted the people who have influenced your life and made you who you are, would they fill a room, a platform, a house, a building, or what? What type people do you find yourself attracted to be around? Are they people going someplace with [...]
